Fair and Square Plaque

Fair and Square Plaque

The plague of Fair and Square was originally written by the Emperor Shunzhi, printed in gold and hanged at the top of the Palace of Heavenly Purity. During the period from Emperor Yongzheng to Daoguang, each emperor put the secret box which contained the name of the succession to the throne behind the plague.

The plague of Fair Square is gold plated with 9 twining dragons. The blue enamels are inlayed on the pedestal with rosewood imitation as base. The brocade packaging box is inspired by the traditional imperial bundle wrapping style with yellow silk inside.

The Palace Museum offered the Plaque of Fair and Square to Bill Clinton, the President of the United States, as a present in 1998.

The plaque of Fair and Square won a Gold Medal in the first China Tourism Souvenir Design Competition.
